What is the Promise Ball?
Sophisticated and fun… There is no other way to describe the Promise Ball, which benefits the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)! Recognized as one of the most successful JDRF galas in the country, this event attracts more than 650 guests each year – including San Antonio’s most highly-respected philanthropists and corporate leaders.

The South Central Texas Chapter of JDRF will host its Eleventh Annual Promise Ball on May 8, 2010 at the Westin La Cantera Resort in San Antonio, TX. Proceeds from this event fund research to find a cure for diabetes and its complications. In an average year, more than 82 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to support diabetes research and education. JDRF receives higher independent ratings than any other diabetes organization and ranks in the top 5 of all health organizations. Recent major medical advances are encouraging; however, additional funds must be raised to support diabetes research to turn from a promise made, to a promise kept!

Gala Chairs, Daniel Jr. and Soonalyn Jacob, along with Honorary Chairs, Sean and Claudia Elliott, invite you to participate in the 2010 Promise Ball which will feature:
     • An elegant cocktail party and dinner at the beautiful Westin La Cantera Resort
     • An exciting new wine tasting room, called the Barrel Room
     • An extraordinary raffle prize with a limited number of chances to win.
     • One-of-a-kind silent and live auction items
     • Amazing musical entertainment from The Emerald City Band
     • An opportunity to make a difference by participating in Fund A Cure where 100% of the monies raised go directly to diabetes research

What is Fund A Cure?
When you contribute to Fund A Cure (FAC) you are making a direct contribution to fund a research grant. This year our chapter has chosen the Cure Therapeutic Area of Research, Glucose Control, and 100% of contributions pledged towards FAC will go directly towards this research. You can donate to FAC in one of two ways, you can make a contribution prior to the Promise Ball over the phone by calling the office (210-822-5336) or you can wait until the night of the gala and simply raise your bid number when you hear the level at which you would like to make your contribution.
